"BOLTS MEETINGS, EVENTS, CLASSES"

Basic class 5-18-2013

Two of the demonstration pieces, a plant hanger with leaf decoration and twisted double hook for a pot rack or fireplace crane, are used to develop the basic skills of the blacksmith.

Tong making at John and Fayes

This was a BOLTS meet where we practiced tong making for the upcoming demonstrations we would have to give to satisfy our scholarship requirements to NCABANA. Several beginning smiths were there to take advantage of the class. We had a great meal provided by Mr. and Mrs. Sykes and Faye showed off her thirty eight quilts she made and would be donating to the Wounded Warrior Program in Morehead City the next Friday. These are two halves I made as a demo Saturday. I bent one cold to see if it would break but it held together and the ends of the scarfs didn't even peel away.
